WHEELING—In the hurried life of mothers with young children there is often little time to slow down and savor peaceful moments. St. Joseph Retreat Center in Wheeling will be offering three evenings for mothers of all faiths with young children to relax and explore creative expressions of spirituality. “We will be exploring all faith traditions,” says Kelly Reindel-Swan, facilitator and mother of three little ones.
Mothers are invited to sign up for one, two or all three evenings. The evenings begin Sept. 11. They continue Oct. 9 and finish Nov. 6. All three evenings will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Retreat Center off Pogue Run Road in Wheeling. The cost is $8 per evening.
“We are encouraging mothers to come with an openness to explore new ways of praying. This is important especially when most days raising young children can be so hectic,” Reindel-Swan said. Many of the reflections will be inspired by Rachel Barton’s book “4 a.m. Madonnas: Spiritual Guide for Christian Mothers.”
“We all need to support each other, relax, laugh and pray,” Reindel-Swan said. “It is my hope that we can continue to provide a few hours off for young mothers to enjoy quiet moments and welcome new opportunities.”
