By Tim Bishop BECKLEY— St. Francis de Sales School student, Elizabeth Koh will head to Washington to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee May 31. Koh reached the national bee after winning the Charleston regional bee March 12 at South Charleston High School. In addition to the chance of becoming a national spelling champion, Koh will receive an all expense-paid weeklong trip to Washington as well as a SMART529 college savings plan contribution of $2,500. Koh follows the footsteps of her brother Matthew, who has also won a regional bee and advanced to the national semifinals. Her progress may be followed online at spellingbee.com.
