By Martina Hart CHARLESTON— The Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is inviting volunteers from the parish and the community to read aloud a selection from Scriptures in various languages on weekdays Oct. 5-26 from 9 to 11 a.m. The readings will coincide with the World Synod of Bishops in Rome entitled “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church.” Msgr. P. Edward Sadie, rector of the Co-Cathedral, hopes that Catholics will be encouraged to identify with and pray for the success of the synod. He said it will also help Catholics and other Christians to better appreciate the role and significance of the Bible in Catholic life, doctrine and worship. Religious leaders, parishioners and friends will publicly proclaim the Scriptures in English, American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Latin, Malaysian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese and other languages. Anyone of any faith tradition, willing to read a selection of Scriptures for 20 minutes from the pulpit at the Co-Cathedral during the aforementioned time is invited to contact Msgr. Sadie at 342-8175.
