Rosary Rallies Offer Prayers for Vocations, Pro-Life

By Colleen Rowan WEST VIRGINIA— Prayers for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, the end of abortion and respect for the sanctity of life were focuses of the many rosary rallies held throughout the state during October—the month of the rosary. Parishes, Catholic schools, Serra clubs, the Knights of Columbus and other Catholic organizations sponsored the rallies, praying for Mary’s intercession for these and other intentions. In Wheeling, a rally sponsored by the Wheeling Serra Club and Central Catholic High School gathered students and community members at the Cathedral of St. Joseph Oct. 19. Faithful gathered for area-wide rallies Oct. 11 at the Hazel-Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park Amphitheater in Morgantown and the Harrison County Courthouse in Clarksburg. St. Joseph Parish in Huntington hosted a rally with participation from neighboring parishes on Respect Life Sunday, Oct. 5, prior to the life chain in the city that day. Many other rosary rallies were held across the state.
