Remembrance of Our Beloved Dead in November

During the month of November, Catholics are asked to take special care in the remembrance of our beloved dead. During the first weekend of November each year, we observe Cemetery Sunday and recall the importance of our Catholic cemeteries as the final resting place for many of our family members and friends. Mount Calvary, our diocesan cemetery in Wheeling, has served the needs of our local area since 1872 and the Wheeling area is privileged to have this cemetery as a final resting place for our deceased bishops along with our Catholic family members and friends. We are encouraged to make regular visits to the cemetery to pray for those who have gone before us. All are invited to the following Masses and service to be held at the Bishops’ Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery:

Nov. 1               Solemnity of All Saints

Mass will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m.

Nov. 2              Commemoration of All the Faithful

                        Departed (All Souls)

Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m.

Nov. 17             Evening Prayer for the Dead

                        Service at 5:30 p.m.
