October is Respect Life Month

Small crosses in memory of unborn babies lost to abortion are on the grounds of St. Matthew Church in Ravenswood. The parish marked the National Day of Remembrance of Aborted Children Sept. 14 with a prayer service. October is Respect Life Month, and many faithful will engage in prayer chains and other gatherings calling for the protection of life from conception to natural death on Respect Life Sunday, Oct. 6, and throughout the month. Every October, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops launches a new yearlong cycle of the Respect Life Program — a nationwide effort “to help Catholics understand, value and help cultivate respect for human life.”
