WEST VIRGINIA—To discuss the pastoral and sacramental life of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston and the future, the diocese will hold a series of information sessions around the state beginning in March.
With the theme “Remembering the past…Recognizing the present…Realizing the future,” the sessions will be held in all seven vicariates and will be led by Msgr. Frederick P. Annie, vicar general of the diocese; Chad Carter, chancellor of the diocese; and Vincent de Paul Schimdt, superintendent of Catholic schools. All members of parishes and missions, priests, religious, deacons and members of school communities are invited to attend the session in their area. All of the sessions will include time for questions and answers.
The major areas of focus will be on personnel and Catholic population in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
“We will be looking at how we can best utilize the resources that we presently have,” Msgr. Annie said. “In the past 20 years many things have changed in West Virginia and in our parishes. We want to update the faithful on some current statistics, that they may not be aware of, and listen to their concerns as we approach the future together.”
All of the sessions will be centrally located in each of the vicariates. Carter said that the diocese is encouraging all of the faithful to attend. “All are invited to attend,” Carter said. “We are especially interested in having parish leadership present from each parish and mission.”
All of the sessions will begin at 7 p.m. at the following dates and locations: St. Margaret Mary Parish in Parkersburg, March 15, for the Parkersburg Vicariate; St. Francis de Sales Parish in Beckley, March 16, for the Beckley Vicariate; St. John XXIII Pastoral Center in Charleston, March 17, for the Charleston Vicariate; St. Leo Parish in Inwood, March 23, for the Martinsburg Vicariate; All Saints Parish in Bridgeport, April 21, for the Clarksburg Vicariate; St. Brendan Parish in Elkins, April 22, for the Weston Vicariate; Central Catholic High School’s Great Hall in Wheeling, April 23, for the Wheeling Vicariate.
