WEST VIRGINIA—The diocese’s Preparing for Christian Marriage Retreat weekend is an opportunity for engaged couples to spend time together in a retreat setting with other engaged couples and a team of presenters in preparation for marriage.
Set in the comfortable, quiet atmosphere of a diocesan pastoral center or retreat center, the format of the weekend is interactive and includes general sessions, breakout sessions, time for quiet reflection, couple and small group conversation, prayer and Sunday liturgy. Because these weekends are offered in collaboration with local parish leadership, in order to register, an engaged couple must be referred by their pastor, associate pastor or deacon who is assisting them in preparation for their marriage.
The weekends begin with dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday evening and end around noon on Sunday. The cost is $275 per couple and includes materials, lodging at the pastoral center Friday and Saturday nights and meals from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast.
To register for a weekend, visit www.dwc.org and click on “Preparing for Christian Marriage” under Quick Links.
The dates of upcoming retreats are: Sept. 13-15 at Blessed John XXIII Pastoral Center in Charleston, Oct. 11-13 at Sandscrest Conference and Retreat Center in Wheeling, Dec. 6-8 at Priest Field Pastoral Center in Kearneysville, Jan. 17-19 at Blessed John XXIII Pastoral Center, March 7-9 at Sandscrest Conference and Retreat Center and April 4-6 at Priest Field Pastoral Center.
As long as space allows, registration deadline is three weeks prior to the start of the chosen weekend.
